Product management seems like a role that is more easily defined by what it isn’t rather than what it is. Indeed, even the author admits that it is hard to give the idea a clear and definitive answer. Despite the lack of definition, it is quite clear that the product manager plays a critical role is orchestrating the successful completion of a product. In this capacity, the product manager is expected to interface between all the separate teams, facilitate clear and open communication, and create a clear vision/roadmap that everyone is able to collaborate on. Without someone in this role, it is easy to see how teams would struggle to communicate and work together effectively.
I would ask the author:
What can someone with very little experience as a PM do to ensure that they are as effective as possible?
