Notes:
Generally speaking, the results were fairly in line with expectations, more in line than original estimations. Through a survey, we assessed how much participants would feel uncomfortable paying for such an app (with results at around $20), and at what price point they would assume lesser quality with our app (around $1-3). It seems that generally, a price range at around $9-12 was expected, and since $10 is roughly the median, our assumptions on pricing was validated.

This is this person’s original schedule and how they usually schedule their day, just including classes and athlete commitments.
This is how the new schedule would look with the AI scheduler for students with ADHD, accounting for buffers, more breaks, micro-tasks and extra time, helping her manage her day and all her tasks.
“This schedule worked for me because longer task times with regular breaks helped me be on task and not feel overwhelmed. In my old schedule, many times I tried to push through long study sessions that eventually left me exhausted and distracted. Now, taking short breaks to reset, and even having reminders for small tasks like checking on laundry-kept me more organized and relieved a lot of the stress associated with having things build up.
I also appreciated how I could tailor it to myself, like doing the math problem set after dinner if I was feeling pressed for time. This is a much more realistic-and friendly-schedule for my ADHD; yes, definitely, I could use this every day. It feels like a feasible structure that works in harmony with, not in conflict with, my attention span.”
Participant 2

Participant 1 (ADHD, 5th-year student) usually used TickTick for task management, so our WoZ system “imported” that, arranged tasks by priority, and filled them in her schedule according to her Google Calendar availability.

This was the daily schedule that MindFlow’s AI generated for the participant.
The participant did not complete a single task on the AI calendar, despite the pressing importance listed on her TickTick. When asked, she attributed it to too much cognitive load and also stated that, for one of the tasks, it would have taken her more than 1 hour to complete, so she did not do it.
For this participant, she did not like being told what to do and when. Even for events that she herself had scheduled on the original calendar, she did not follow through; for instance, she skipped SSO rehearsal and just had dinner with her friend instead. As a result, though the AI calendar failed for this participant, it is also probable that a calendar format as a whole might not be a good fit for this participant’s work style.
Participant 3

Participant 3 (ADHD, freshman) lists their todos in the notes app, and I WoZ imported it into their Google Calendar based on their availability.

The AI-generated schedule
The participant completed six tasks (two meetings, put away old dishes, practice dance, take shower, and CS 103 HW). It seems that for a lot of the smaller tasks, it was easier for the participant to accomplish when they were treated as breaks, instead of as major tasks or tasks that were not urgent (and thus would never get done).
Additionally, while CS 103 homework was the most pressing and time-consuming task, the participant stated that it helped their attention to have different tasks placed in between. While the momentum in working was broken up, that productivity was transferred to other tasks that had been deprioritized (but perhaps should not have).
