Description of Experience: The behavior I chose to track was aimless scrolling on TikTok. Over two days, I documented when and why I opened the app and noted patterns in my usage. I realized that my scrolling often stemmed from boredom, procrastination, or the influence of notifications, which acted as triggers. I measured my usage at 15-minute intervals, using a combination of my phone’s Screen Time data and manual tracking of what I was doing before and during app usage. This allowed me to connect my behavior to specific emotional and situational triggers. Key insights include recognizing that boredom and a lack of planning were consistent factors driving my scrolling. For future improvement, I plan to set structured goals for phone use and minimize notifications to disrupt the reinforcement loop.
