Proto-Persona + Journey Map

I focused my proto-persona and journey map on an interviewee named N.S. who is a busy Stanford undergraduate student and self-identified avid reader. She made for a good proto-persona model as, according to our interviews and her journal data, she embodies many of the felt motivations and pain points amongst readers: not enough time to read, too tired to read after the school day, distracted by phone, etc… She has a strong passion and adherence to reading but finds it hard to do so during the school year. She wants to work more diligently to build this habit.

N.S. doesn’t use any external tools or motivators to help her with this goal. Instead, she relies on herself to motivate her to read. However, because of this, she finds it is often easy to make excuses. She tries to weave some non-school reading into her daily routine but often does not meet this goal because of her busy life (academically and socially).
