Proto-Persona 1:

Proto-Persona 2:

Journey Maps:
Brief Description:
My proto-personas are general representations of 2 interviewees. We can see that they both are extremely motivated to stay in touch, but, due to unique circumstances and reasons, find it difficult to do so. Afnaan finds it tricky to reach out to his friends due to social norms, but Helen has trouble squeezing in the calls and text responses to her busy grad schedule. Both personas have a few more things in common, though. Chiefly, they experience a sense of FOMO/loneliness due to the physical separation from their friends.
This leads us to the journey maps for Afnaan and Helen, respectively. Afnaan’s journey map is based on the cyclical timeline we used in class. He goes from wanting to reach out, to being scared to reach out due to the norms of his friend group, to then overcoming his fear to soon become complacent again. For Helen, I wanted to capture the different highs and lows of the distanced communication experience. We see that her feelings, thoughts, and actions are constantly out of sync, leading to some gaps that we will look to provide solutions for in the next phase of our project. In a perfect world, her thoughts, feelings and actions would align. But since they don’t, our team is confident that there are ways to improve this problem space. This was an exciting discovery and we’re excited to continue lessening the severity of this disconnect.
