Because of everyone’s varying lived experiences and background, I don’t think it’s very possible to adopt perfect design thinking. Regardless of the perspectives one considers and accounts for in their design thinking, there is inevitably going to be a group of people that are not accounted for. Good design thinking tries to minimize the size of this group and consider all the factors possible, but they can still miss important issues.
One example of bad design thinking is Abercrombie. Although they thrived for many years by creating a culture of exclusivity where only attractive and skinny people were deemed worthy of wearing their clothes, they were unable to keep up with culture shifts and eventually fell out of style and became unpopular.
