The LinkedIn deck is well made (though that could be hindsight bias). They talk about the obvious things: market advantage, plans for the funding, etc. It has clear illustrations, caters to the new (at the time) internet, and uses other companies (Ebay, Google, and Paypal) that are in different fields but utilizing the same internet network strategies as a measure of their success, and also a representation of their market siz. I find this smart because they don’t have anything within their field like this, which is their market advantage, but they can still make a pretty solid bet on its success due to similar companies utilizing that field, which is something I might want to steal for my Sanity Check pitch. They also have information about their series A funding. They depict their original expectations for series A and the amount they actually earned, and they use that as a model for their funding now, showing the evidence that their product actually works and by extension, that there is a need for their product. They also talk a lot about their diverse team and their team’s qualifications and strengths. An investor would probably question what would stop a company like Google/Yahoo (at the time) from releasing their own version of this and catering to their existing (and larger than LinkedIn’s at the time) market.
