Proto-Persona & Journey Map for Mindful Movements

As Team 15, we focus on the topic of Mindful Movements. We asked nearly a dozen of participants to log down their mindful “activities” during the baseline study.

From the baseline study results and interviews, we can see that some participants want to move more for the sake of their well-being, but are not moving enough due to school work. Furthermore, many mentioned deep focus on work and expressed stress, where we believe mindfulness should help.

Proto-Persona

Combining those participants’ traits and characteristics together, we have a proto-persona named Amy, who is a PhD student that suffers fatigue from sitting for too long. She has made attempts to force herself to move more to reduce pain and improve health.

Journey Map

Using a journey map, we detailed Amy’s daily routine across the morning, noon, afternoon and evening. We illustrated her fatigue level and showed its change with different actions she takes. Along with her emotions and feelings, we try to find the pain points and see what we can do to help.

In general, we think there are many good moments when we can intervene to remind Amy to do more mindful movements (such as on her way to lunch/dinner), so that she not only gets pain relief from easy movements, but also improved mental status for potentially better work efficiency. We will continue to investigate what time of the day is best for intervention and also what type of movements are the best (e.g. movements that force setting changes, that make her temporarily forget about work, etc.)
