An Office Romance Gone Wrong – Response

I agree with Karen Firestone on this particular area – it’s apparent that this whole situation has not been healthy for Elizabeth – she even mentions that she doesn’t love her job anymore, and the situation has been incredibly distracting for her at the workplace. I think that in order to heal and move on, it’s imperative that she distances herself properly and gives herself time to process.

If I were the manager, I would proceed with the situation delicately. It’s important to acknowledge that Elizabeth’s own feelings. Ultimately, however, I think an independent meeting with both of them would be important, so I get the full picture and not a completely biased view painting either side as bad. As a manager, I would also want to be sympathetic and try to help Elizabeth in any way that I can, whether that be giving her additional time to cover, or redirecting her to relevant mental health resources. I would prioritize her recovery to get back to the mental state she was before the incident.
