Brontosaurus: Moodboard & Style Tile

Moodboard

Justification

Our moodboard features 4 words: playful, friendly, thoughtful, and delightful. The overarching goal of our app is to return to childlike wonder and silliness. We do not seek to take ourselves or our product too seriously. We want it to feel approachable and welcoming, reminiscent of a friend who has your best interests in mind.

Within our moodboard, we sought to bring together words, images, and colors that convey this overarching goal. There are bright colors, cartoon sketches, and thoughtful imagery. Our app, though fun and approachable, is meant to stir deeper reflection and awareness in the user. In this regard, we are led by the word “thoughtful,” which encompasses our desire for the experience to be thought provoking, but also for every flow to be thoughtful on our end as we design the user experience. Overall, we hope that our app carries forward the brand that this moodboard represents.

Style Tile

Justification

Our style tile is a companion to our moodboard. In it, we’ve included an overview of our font choices, color palette, brand words, icons, buttons, and textures, all of which together uphold the brand we are trying to build.

We have a variety of fonts for different use cases. Most of the usage will likely be for titular text as well as body text throughout the app. We’ve also included accent fonts for more niche, less recurring moments in the app experience. Our color palette pulls directly from parts of our moodboard. The colors are meant to be bright and playful, featuring primary colors that are reminiscent of colored markers. Our buttons are purposefully skewed to follow a nonconventional format and further reinforce our brand. Finally, the textures we’ve included are designed to be reminiscent of childhood education and schooling. We have nods to paper and gradient textures. We want the experience to feel grounded in tactile materials that our users most likely interacted with during their childhood.
