I agree with the expert in this case. While it is apparent that the toxic work environment that’s been created for Elizabeth does not seem to be her fault in any way, at the end of the day it is still a toxic environment. A star employee like Elizabeth should be working in a place that works for her, and it seems that her comfort is not being directly valued by other employees both directly with Brad and by other nosy coworkers. Elizabeth should work at a company that values her both as an employee and as a person. Even though there is no perfect situation where she can maintain her job’s prestige, financial upside, and opportunity to succeed, her current situation seems like one that can only get worse and worse for her as a person. I believe that a some point you need to separate your career and your life and make a move to somewhere Elizabeth is happier. Despite this, if I were Elizabeth’s manager I’m afraid there’s not much you can do about the situation. It is awkward and uncomfortable for all parties involved and intervening as a manager would only seem to focus more attention on the matter.
