I want to change going to sleep at abnormal hours, which is what I decided to track. It has been a problem of mine for a while but got to its worst this quarter quicker than ever.
Because tracking only exactly when I go to bed is harder than more short-term things, I’ll write up a quick summary!
12/15 – regular Sunday
I woke up a bit tired after ~7 hours of sleep. The weather had been not amazing, but good for working. My CS212 group and I got a head start on our problem set and had a long brainstorming meeting. The rest of the day went as usual. Since I have a refrigerator in EVGR this year, I usually bring some food for dinner, which I have quite late (around 11pm—still 4-5 hours before bedtime). Toward midnight, I decided to write a bit more code, and my partner messaged that he got most of part 1 working. This message was reassuring and motivational, and I spent the rest of the next three hours brainstorming my own approaches and editing his code. I showered after, called my mom, and went to bed at 3:30am.
12/16 – MLK Day
Although this was our third weekend that day, I still woke up a bit tired after ~7.5 hours of sleep. We had another CS212 meeting for 4 hours which was too long for me to stay productive. I bought my Chinese textbook from the bookstore, saw lake Lag, got dinner with a few friends. When I got back at 9pm, I took a few sips of coffee I bought from the dining hall because I was still tired after the long meeting. I then did Chinese homework, had late dinner, and studied the kernel codebase 12am-3am. Showered, called mom, and went to bed at 4am not even feeling that tired (coffee hit harder than I expected given my tolerance).
