Pitch Reflection — SnapEdit

Working on SnapEdit taught us a lot about creating a product and delivering a clear, effective pitch. Our goal was to make video editing tools accessible for non-professional creators and build a marketplace where users could share and sell templates. This process required us to think critically about our product’s value, identify our audience, and ensure our message was as clear as possible.

The feedback we received highlighted both our strengths and areas for improvement. People responded well to the marketplace idea, especially the potential for creators to support each other and profit from their work. It was great to see our financial “ask” and team cohesion appreciated—both were things we’d worked hard to get right. However, the feedback also revealed that our competitive analysis was too broad. Including companies that didn’t directly align with SnapEdit blurred our message. We realized that focusing on direct competitors in AI-driven video editing would make SnapEdit’s unique features much clearer. This insight will guide us in refining our positioning and showing where we stand out.

Content moderation and IP protection were other key areas for growth. Initially, we had a simple trust and safety plan, but the feedback highlighted the need for a stronger approach to ensure quality and protect creators’ rights. This led us to consider adding tools like a rating system or AI filters to make our marketplace safer and more reliable. Lastly, the feedback on slide design, particularly color contrast, reminded us of the importance of visual clarity. We’ll revise our slides to ensure that all information is easily readable. Overall, this project showed us how valuable feedback is in making a product stronger. We’re excited to apply these insights, improve SnapEdit, and grow our skills as a team.
