Solution Ideation
With the main functionality of our app corroborated by our intervention study, we moved on to investigating different implementations that might help users stick to using our app. We explored various solutions, including an anthropomorphic representation of continuous login, streaks, and a calendar overview. Through the last exercise (paper concept sketch), we decided that these features could likely work in tandem and can be pursued simultaneously.

Assumption Map
Desirability assumptions:

Feasibility and viability assumptions: irrelevant for our team, as we are working with a prototype with no current marketing plans. But we include a few other assumptions here.

Assumption Tests
Here’s a closeup of the important and unknown quadrant:
WBT we can keep our customers by delivering on our value proposition and maintaining a positive app environment.
- To verify that, we will have participants send us ‘emotion’ photos like we had in our intervention study throughout the day and text them back the status of their ‘pet’ based on their ‘streaks’. At the end of the day, we will ask them basic questions about the feelings that the pets and their streaked evoked.
- And measure how anxiety-inducing this process was in comparison to traditional finance tracking methods.
- We are right if participants indicate positive attitudes towards this gamified approach along with negative to less enthusiastic attitudes towards traditional tracking.
WBT we can reach our customers through a simple app with a low barrier to entry.
- To verify that, we will run a five-second test where our participants will be given five seconds to view the design of our prototype, and then answer a few simple questions, such as what’s the purpose of the app and if the design looks trustworthy and appealing.
- And measure if users’ first impressions of our app are on point.
- We are right if they can quickly understand the functionality of our app and become interested in trying it out.
