Post-Study Interview Script
Introduction:
- Hi [Participant’s Name], thank you again for participating in our study. We really appreciate the time and effort you’ve put in over the past few days.
- Today’s conversation is to gather some insights on your experience with the diary study and to dive deeper into some of the patterns we observed. This should take about 20-30 minutes.
- As always, everything will remain confidential. You are free to skip any questions or stop at any time if you feel uncomfortable.
- Before we get started, do you have any questions for us?
Reflecting on the Experience:
- What surprised you about your behaviors as you logged them?
- Do you ever feel self-conscious about engaging in this behavior in front of other people? In public places?
- Did you find yourself becoming more aware of it? Less engaged? More engaged? And why do you think you are becoming more aware of it? Less engaged? More engaged?
- From your diary entries, we noticed that [specific pattern from their data]. Was that expected for you?
- If not, why do you think this behavioral pattern emerged?
- If yes, could you elaborate?
- You mentioned [specific emotional state, e.g., anxiety, boredom] as a trigger in the pre-study interview. Did the diary study help you identify any new or unexpected triggers?
- If yes, what were they?
- if no, move on
- Were there any moments when you successfully resisted picking? What helped you in those moments?
- How did the process of tracking your skin-picking affect your emotions?
- If we were to improve this study or develop a tool to help with skin picking, what features would be most helpful to you?
