We tested our prototype on 2 students in the class during 10A and gained the following insights.
Severe
Clarifying what nudges are:
- While nudging was intuitive, users weren’t fully sure of what nudging would do to them.
- Fixes:
- Adding a page to onboarding, giving instructions on what nudging means/what a nudge is.
Clarifying overall what “Auto-nudge” means for users:
- Users thought “auto-nudge” meant they could send automatic nudges to their friends every XX hours, which is very wrong and not what we meant by this feature.
- Fixes:
- Rename “auto-nudge”.
- After the title, add an instruction/information line.
- In onboarding, add a page about what these automatic reminders are and how to set them up.
Changing the auto-nudge onboarding
- Users pointed out an error and a strong concern over the question “how many nudges per day,” saying that if someone wanted 10 nudges a day, every 4 hours, how does it fit in a 24-hour cycle?
- Fixes:
- Instead of choosing hours and nudges a day, they can schedule nudges like an alarm system per day on their calendar.
Moderate
Snoozing: Users thought the snooze durations were too long and requested more realistic snooze times
- Fix: Allow snoozing options to be by minutes instead of hours
Receiving a nudge: The only way to remove a nudge is to respond, but not everyone wants to text back to every text.
- Fix: Add a delete button option to received nudges. Add a confirmation screen if they want to delete a nudge.
Trivial
Syncing contacts: Users saw similarities to their iMessage app, wanting to add all their friends.
- Fix: Add an “add all contacts” button to friends.
Minor UI
- Minor error with nudge button showing illegible text
- Fix: Change the text on the button to “Nudge.”
- App gets cut off depending on phone sizes
- Fix: Add safe area view for all screens.
