BUSINESS: Product Management in Practice

I see a product manager’s job as a middleman juggling many hats. As a product manager, you need to work with and support your engineers, designers, and marketing teams to ensure that your product is launched and successful. Your responsibility is to have this mental roadmap of building and launching a product, and then define it and execute on it. One of the core aspects of a product manager that I think no one else in a company/organization is talking to customers and figuring out their pain points, which informs how a product manager then creates the roadmap. Their job is also to take accountability for the success of a product, as they are ultimately responsible for the following execution.

Some questions I have for the author of this book is 1) Do you think “product manager” as a job should be defined and streamlined across all companies, or is the status quo of “it’s different from company to company” fine”? and 2) How can a product manager ensure that their efforts/work have visibility to the broader executive/organization?
