  • What are the pros and cons of an advertising revenue model for your product and the internet overall?
    Pros: The biggest pro of an advertising model is that the service remains free. Running a company like Facebook needs billions of dollars, and it can only offer its services for free due to ads. The second pro is that if ads are done properly, they might even benefit the users. A lot of the time, people find targeted ads useful; it saves them the time to go and search for a product on Amazon.
  • Cons: To make ads relevant, you need to make them targeted, and targeted ads need personal user data. This user data, once it goes to the company, is at risk of being leaked, hacked, and used for purposes the user is not aware of. Also, the ads are a significant contributor to unpleasant website experiences.
  • Pros for Flowy:  We can keep flowy free or lower its cost if we do ads. Based on people’s speeches, there is a lot of data we can get, including their schedule, their gender, their ethnicity, etc.
  • Cons for Flowy : If a user sees a target ad based on what he spoke to the system, it can create paranoia as if we are always listening and spying on the user.
