During this last week I tried to break my habit of eating ramen, my favorite food, late at night. Eating ramen has a horrible side effect of making my stomach hurt and body bloated due to the high sodium levels and my food sensitivity to wheat. Despite this, I love the the taste of ramen and often find myself eating it when I am up late at night. In order to curb my cravings, I tried to first substitute the food with fruit and bought green apples and grapefruit. Both of these fruits do not make my body feel gross and are filling. During the week, I gave in twice. The first time, it was not as bad since I replaced my dinner with ramen meaning my sleep was not as disturbed and my stomach hurt less. That did not get rid of my late night craving though, and I was able to get grapefruit to reduce the oral fixation. On the last night though, I ended up giving in to the ramen despite not being hungry. First, I tried eating and apple and after, although I was tempted by eating grapefruit, it was simply too messy of a fruit. In the future, I will reduce my potential of eating ramen by not buying anymore and having easier to eat, healthier snacks I can consume late at night. Since I know I am not usually hungry but rather just lik chewing on things, I am also going to try consuming more gum.
