I really enjoyed working on this project! Our team set out to introduce a new feature for Soundspot that would enable musicians to connect with their audiences in more meaningful ways. The highlight of this project was developing a tiered membership model, similar to Patreon, allowing artists to offer different levels of content and exclusive perks to their fans.
One of the main challenges we faced was ensuring the platform remained user-friendly while providing powerful tools for artists. We spent significant time revisiting our designs and making enhancements to improve the user experience. Initially, our focus was solely on musicians, so we started by interviewing student musicians to understand which features they valued most.
However, we soon realized that we couldn’t overlook the listeners, who comprised a significant part of the app’s user base. This insight prompted us to broaden our approach and design the platform to serve both artists and listeners. To achieve this, we expanded our research to include listeners and learned about their preferences and needs, which we then incorporated into our design.
The most valuable part of this project was working with my team. Everyone brought their own expertise to the table, which helped us find creative solutions to problems and improve the overall quality of the project. Our team held weekly meetings to discuss progress, troubleshoot any issues, and brainstorm new ideas. This helped ensure that we were all on the same page and working toward the same goal.
