PSP 6: Test Cards for Products that Flopped

Quibi: short form mobile streaming platform

  • We believe that viewers will pay a repeated fee for premium short videos despite free competitors.
  • To verify, we will offer a group of pilot users a paid pilot program, with the option to pay or drop out in a simulation of the product.
  • And measure how many of the pilot users choose to pay and renew their subscription month over month.
  • We are right if some number (potentially a majority) renew, and express that they are highly willing to pay for the product.

Humane AI Pin: wearable screenless AI device

  • We believe that our AI can complete tasks faster and more conveniently than a smartphone while preserving the utility.
  • To verify, we will conduct a pilot program with a group of users who will augment or swap their phone usage with completing tasks with the AI Pin.
  • And measure how many tasks were completed correctly and faster with the prototype, and interview users about the experience and whether it was improved from the phone-use experience.
  • We are right if the tasks have a very high completion and accuracy rate, and the pilot group is enthusiastic about continuing to use the pin.

Juicero: home juicer to squeeze pre-diced packets

  • We believe that customers will pay $699 for the machine’s added convenience even though the packets are hand-squeezable.
  • To verify, we will interview potential customers, or let a group of people use both the juicer and the hand-squeezing method, and follow up on whether they would pay for the juicer.
  • And measure paid preorders from the group, or the proportion of interviewees who said they would still prefer the juicer.
  • We are right if a sustainable amount of users preorder the machine, or respond that they would still prefer the machine.
