The assumption I tested was whether or not artists would be interested in livestreaming their music. To test this, we sent out a google survey to other students on campus.
We found that of the artists that we surveyed, all of them were interested in live streaming if they would be able to make 85% of the revenue from the stream. In speaking more deeply with one of the surveyed users, she mentioned that because the rate was significantly better than competitors such as Spotify, she would be inclined to livestream. Given our data it seems that we can reliably conclude that artists are interested in streaming. However, as next steps we should collect more data on how often they would be interested since the initial question we asked was rather abstract.
We should also target more specific artist communities on campus in the future, and could test more thoroughly with test streams such as through Twitch or Instagram Live.
