After having three rounds of testing, we got valuable feedback that will inform our next iteration of our prototype!
đź”´ Severe Issues (High Priority)
More explanation of the interruption flow
- Users didn’t fully understand how and when the app would intervene in their shopping behavior. In our prototype, we simulate the user scrolling through Amazon then getting a notification from the app to intervene, but this left our testers a little confused on what was happening and why.
- Fixes:
- Add clearer onboarding screens explaining interruptions and why they matter.
- Add a page that asks users what apps they shop on, then explain the interventions here.
- Make the Amazon simulation a little more clear with text on what is being simulated.
Break up the first page to avoid overwhelming users
- The initial screen had too much text, making it hard for users to process. This screen is important as it describes the purpose of the app, but our testers said they would just skip past it because of the block of text.
- Fix: Split into multiple screens for a smoother onboarding experience.
Change animations between screens
- Some animations felt too slow or jarring, affecting usability. It didn’t feel as natural as other apps.
- Fix: Optimize transitions for speed and smoothness, ensuring interactions feel natural.
Fix padding and clickables for usability
- Some buttons were too small or difficult to click, and spacing was inconsistent. This frustrated some users and they felt stuck when they couldn’t click on what they wanted to. We also didn’t account for the phone front camera covering the top portion of the screen, so some of our headers were cut off.
- Fixes:
- Increase button sizes and touch targets.
- Add padding at the top and bottom to account for phone cameras and scrolling behavior.
🟡 Moderate Issues (Medium Priority)
Add point values to items for gamification
- Users wanted more feedback on their selections and felt that point-based incentives could add motivation.
- Fix: Assign point values to items and display a point counter next to the username.
More celebration upon board completion
- Completing a board felt anticlimactic; users wanted more feedback.
- Fix: Add a completion animation or positive reinforcement message (e.g., “Great job! You earned X points today!”).
🟢 Trivial Issues (Low Priority)
Remove Sharing Other People’s Boards
- Users felt this feature was too similar to Pinterest and didn’t add much value. It also takes them out of the app instead of drawing them in.
- Fix: Remove the ability to share other people’s boards while keeping personal board creation central.
Style and Spacing Fixes
- Minor UI inconsistencies made some screens feel unpolished.
- Fixes:
- Adjust color scheme to avoid looking like Hinge (per user feedback).
- Improve button contrast (e.g., make “Start Now” and “Come Back Later” visually distinct).
- Tweak the logo for better branding.
