Our app, ScreenPaws, aims to help doomscrollers be more mindful of their screentime. We allow users to set goals for 1-3 target apps and give them a cat companion to help them stay on track with these goals. Each time a user reaches their time limit on a target app, their cat will eat and grow until it’s covering most of the screen, and the user will have to wait for the cat to shrink before opening a target app again. Within the app, we also have a community page where users can view the state of their friends’ cats and also see their daily reflections. We also reward the user with paw coins each day they meet their daily goals, and they can use their coins to buy items in the shop to dress up their cat. Our goal with ScreenPaws is to help our users be mindful of their daily screentime goals in a way that feels engaging but still encourages accountability.
