Do I agree with the expert?
I agree with the expert’s assessment: “she should immediately and aggressively pursue other opportunities.” Her current environment is toxic and there are many factors outside of her control. She is accomplished and has this experience to now navigate difficult management situations better. She is adding a lot of value to the organization and the expert believes she will be able to get great terms outside. Overall, this might lead to better work culture around her as well as advances to her career.
If I was a manager, and found out about the situation, what would I do about this?
As a manager, my job would be to collect all the information and create a solid vision to create a better workplace environment. I would work with HR to have conversations with people in the team and enforce policies that would prevent anything like this to happen in the future. In addition, if Elizabeth wants to leave the company this means giving her a great letter of recommendation and helping her find opportunities.
