Journey Maps and Provision Personas

Our team is looking into problems that arise when making decisions and we’re interested in encouraging people to make faster decisions and be more confident in their decisions. I created a persona of one of the participants in our diary study: Distressed Daniel.

Distressed Daniel is someone who tends to make decisions slowly and regret his choice after the fact. He’s a junior in college studying CS and finds himself socializing instead of doing work a lot of the time since he has a habit of procrastinating. He often thinks about the consequences of his decisions, causing him to make decisions more slowly as he evaluates his options and regret what he missed out on after making a decision.

Motivation: … because they cost me a lot of time and stress 🙁

I always think about the “what ifs” of the other options after I’ve made my choice
I like procrastinating on homework…

Asking friends for help but I don’t listen if I’ve already thought about it a lot

Procrastinating but somehow still getting my work done on time
Self-aware of the negative effects of my decisions
