Kyla’s Persona and User Journey Map

My group is studying individuals’ behavior around sustainable coffee consumption, so I conducted an interview/diary study of a busy Stanford student who has a consistent Sunday routine of drinking Starbucks and studying. Therefore, I created the persona “Starbucks Sunday Sarah,” who represents students who like to infuse coffee in their routine to boost studying and productivity. See the graphics below for more details about who this persona is, her goals and motivations, and typical routines that our group can use to better understand areas of potential behavior change:

Based on what we observed from her weekend diary study entry on Sunday (and from speaking to her about this in her pre and post-interviews), I also created a journey map of a typical Sunday for Starbucks Sunday Sarah. This outlines the actions she takes throughout the day, how she feels at any point (through pains and gains), what tools she has at her disposal, and her energy levels throughout the day:

For Sarah, coffee is a means for gaining her energy back, and the setting/ambiance of Starbucks itself sets the mood for a productive day and a change-of-pace from student-life on campus. We can’t wait to dive into potentially introducing behavior-changing elements to see how we can infuse sustainability practices without friction for someone so busy and bustling with life!
