I set out to measure my behavior of going to sleep late. Through most of last year, I would go to bed at or after midnight. This was never a problem since I generally don’t have class before 10am, and if I did, it was recorded so I could just watch lecture later. This year, I’m trying to change my habits and actually go to my morning classes, since 1) I engage better in-person 2) they are not recorded. Also I generally tend to miss breakfast as a result of sleeping in and waking up too close to lunch for a full meal which ends up messing up my food schedule for the day. TL;DR: I’m trying to go to bed on time. In my connection circle, I tracked positive reinforcements in green and the negative ones in red. This has given me some pretty good insights; I knew that my recreational habits (playing guitar, video games, hanging with friends) tend to push back my homework which pushes back my sleep time, but seeing the relationships in the circular chart helps me actually quantify the impacts that each habit has. It looks like I need to in general finish homework earlier. It is also interesting to note that whenever I exercise, I tend to sleep on time. Food for thought.
