For this activity, I wanted to wear lip balm more. I have pretty dry lips but often fall short of wearing lip balm and so I wanted to understand this behavior by documenting my experience and some guidelines for myself to do it better next time.
My experience
I measured myself across two weekdays because weekdays most accurately represents the majority of my year.

I decided to measure the whole day because just wearing lip balm once is often not enough for my dry lips. Currently, I do not wear lip balm at all so that is represented in this diagram.
It was really beneficial for me to understand a lot of my behaviors that factor into my lip health. There are some factors that went unnoticed by me such as eating/drinking removes my lip balm and then I forget to reapply, which keeps my lips dry after eating or drinking water. Moreover, I noticed that in order for me to wear lip balm, I would have to look myself in the mirror, which happens when I do skincare. So perhaps there is an opportunity to pair lip balm use with skincare like washing face. I am glad that I did this exercise because doing the measurement and synthesis hopefully will make me more mindful about these factors.
What I would do differently next time
One thing I would change is try to put some effort into wearing balm in the experiment period. This is because even on days I do wear lip balm, I may only wear it once before bed but that dries out pretty quickly. So in order to reach my goal, which is to not have dry and cracked lips, I would have to wear it more often.
