I mostly agree with the expert. Elizabeth would be better off pursuing new oppoortunities since her current work environment became unfair and very emotionally taxing. This could in turn affect her performance and slow down her career. I also think that the male dominated culture is complicating the situation, specifically making it harder for Elizabeth. It’s very hard for men in a male dominated workplace to understand a woman’s point of view, which then leads to comments like “suck it up”. If she gets a new job, she can focus on her own professional growth.
If I was the manager, I would take the situation a lot more serious and ensure that the company would create fair and respectful policies to everyone. Addressing the issue equally is important; both Brad and Elizabeth would get the same message about keeping personal out of business. There should also be a private conversation between the two, without all the external influence. I think recognizing Elizabeth’s emotional state is also very important, and I would be more accomadating to her.
