This chapter really opened my eyes to the reality of the product manager position — there’s definitely a lot of misconception surrounding the PM role, such as the role in actually building the product (which is not that big.) I learned about the importance of connectivity and a jack-of-all-trades mentality through this chapter. My impression of the role after reading this is that much more important than technical skills are the people skills of the product manager, which seem to be almost the entire PM job. I did think that the chapter made the position seem very pessimistic though, and if I could, I would ask the author whether or not he would even recommend the position for those considering it. Building off that question, I would ask the author what he thinks the best part of being a PM is.
