Product Sense Pushup 4

Granola, Otter, and Fireflies all record a meeting and hand you notes. Their homepages sell three different things, and the gap between them is a lesson in value props.

Granola: calm for the overbooked
Promise: notes, action items, and memory, with no meeting bot. For people stuck in back-to-back meetings. It beats the alternative by never adding a bot to the call, so nobody feels recorded. Elements: saves time, reduces effort, avoids hassles, plus two emotional ones: design/aesthetics and reduces anxiety.

Otter: win the call
Promise: meeting AI for call prep, with briefs before, live coaching during, and follow-ups after. For sales teams; the proof is a VP of Sales claiming 33% time back. It beats the alternative by covering the whole call, not just the recording. Elements: saves time, makes money, informs, integrates, reduces anxiety.

Fireflies: the safe company pick
Promise: the “#1 AI assistant” that transcribes, summarizes, searches, and analyzes every team conversation. For companies buying seats, backed by “1 million+ companies.” It beats the alternative on proof: 95% accuracy, 100+ languages, SOC2 and GDPR. Elements: quality, reduces risk, organizes, variety, integrates.

Which I’d buy
Granola. My days run from class to practice to meetings with no gap, so its headline describes my week. I am not closing renewals or buying 50 seats, so Otter and Fireflies talk past me.

The lesson for my own value prop: Fireflies lists the most elements and feels the most generic. Granola names one person, one painful moment, and one alternative it beats. Then it reaches past the functional layer into an emotional one. A strong value prop does fewer things and says them to someone specific.
