Videogame Addiction
- Having a high workload can lead to anxiety
- High workload can also lead to lack of motivation due to feeling overwhelmed with everything
- Lack of motivation leads to boredom which leads to playing videogames
- Anxiety leads to playing videogames because of the stress and the attempt to reduce it
There are many other reasons that can be associated with someone getting addicted to videogames,
but it would be difficult to illustrate all of the root causes in one image. Having an overwhelming workload
is, for me, the biggest cause.

Screen Time
- Having homework to complete leads to computer use
- Computer use leads to increasd screen time alone, but it also leads to distractions
- Distractions lead to direct overuse of the device because I still need the same amount of time to finish my work after I’m back on track
- Receiving a notificaiton leads to phone use
- Free time also leads to phone use – I use my phone a lot when I have nothing else to do or think to do
- Using my phone, if it was for a specific purpose, can also lead to distraction which fuels the overuse of my device
Screen time is something I’ll never be able to reduce to a low number due to the nature of using devices as a CS major,
however I think it is important to try to reduce it when possible and spend less time scrolling on social media or watching TV
shows.
