Granola.ai describes its promise to knowledge workers who attend lots of meetings as an “AI notepad for back-to-back meetings” which captures “notes, actions, and memory”. Granola’s homepage describes how it beats the alternative of needing a bot present during the meeting. On the elements of value pyramid, Granola sells the value of saving time (from manual transcription), quality (saves memory from past chats), and integration (can sync to Apple Watch). It also sells the emotional value of reduced anxiety from missed context.

Otter.ai describes its promise to meeting goers who rely on prior meeting context as the “world’s smartest AI notetaker”. Otter beats the alternative of manual transcription or reading through previous notes before meetings, since it offers pre-call briefings, a chat function to search across past meetings, and live-assist coaching prompts. It maps to the functional value of saving time, quality, integration, and variety (alternative to Granola), and the emotional value of reduced anxiety.

Fireflies.ai describes its promise to knowledge workers seeking transcription accuracy as having “95% accuracy”. It beats the alternative of manual and inaccurate transcriptions and “can transcribe in hundreds of languages”. Fireflies also offers users “real-time suggestions, answers, and coaching” during meetings. It sells the functional value of quality, saves time, variety, and the emotional value of reduced anxiety.
I choose Granola, since it doesn’t require a bot which can make meetings feel impersonal. I also appreciated how their platform syncs to the Apple Watch for meetings on the go. Granola does not offer live meeting assistance but the other players do, so our team’s value proposition must emphasize keeping meetings on track versus giving insights on what to say. Also, we should look further into our visual roadmap idea which is not currently offered in the market.
