All three products basically do the same job so the interesting part is how differently each homepage pitches that job. Granola calls itself “the AI notepad for back-to-back meetings” and I think that one line tells you exactly who it’s for and the exact moment it helps.

Otter says its “AI notetaker is now also your Conversational Knowledge Engine.” The word “also” suggests it’s talking to people who already know Otter. I think that’s a real promise, but it doesn’t name a specific person and the “Schedule demo” button next to “Start for free” hints that it’s really going after company buyers. It doesn’t really say why it beats the others either.

Fireflies goes the opposite way and claims to be the #1 assistant for “all your team conversations.” The audience is clearly teams. Its argument for why it wins is proof, not a story, and the dictation banner at the top and the demo you have to scroll to find make the page feel busier than the other two.

Mapping these to the Elements of Value pyramid, all three share the same base of saving time, reducing effort and organizing. The differences show up above that. Fireflies adds integration, Otter mostly stays functional, but Granola is the only one that clearly reaches into emotional value.
I’d buy Granola. It really does sit in the background during calls, and the enhanced summary does a good job of capturing what actually mattered. For our team, the biggest lesson is that Granola won with specificity. It names one person and one painful moment, it picks one enemy (the bot) without even naming a competitor, and it gives one obvious action. Our pitch for meetings and repetitive manual tasks is still pretty broad, and right now it sounds closer to Otter’s “powers your workflow”.
