Ideation
We started our ideation process by individually writing any and all ideas that we had for solutions to get people outside. We wrote these ideas on sticky notes, and then shared them with each other. Below is an image of this process.

Next, we individually chose our favorite idea and drew experience flows. Some of the ideas that we focused on were an AR scavenger hunt and daily challenges. Below we have these experience flows:

Next, we individually drew more detailed interfaces for our favorite ideas. Below are some of these drawings:

Assumption Mapping
Using the ideas that we developed, we identified assumptions relevant to our solutions. We then plotted these assumptions on to a 2×2 matrix. One axis measures the importance of the assumption. The other axis measured whether the assumption is known or unknown. We have this assumption map below:

We then took assumptions from the important / unknown quadrant and picked a test for the two that we thought were most important for designing our MVP. The assumptions and their tests are:
Assumption #1
We believe: intermittent rewards in the form of weekly recap collages are effective at getting users to continue desired behavior for long periods of time.
To verify: ask participants to complete daily challenges for four days. Afterwards, we will give them a weekly recap. Then, we give them a survey.
And Measure: how the weekly recaps made participants feel and what motivated them to complete the challenges.
We are right if: participants express that they enjoyed the weekly recaps and see them as motivation to complete challenges.
Assumption #2
We believe: midday reminders are effective at getting people to complete daily challenges
To verify: remind users to go outside at different frequencies each day over the course of the testing period. We will start with one notification a day and gradually increase over the course of the study to a notification every 2 hours.
And Measure: Participants’ preference on which frequency of reminders was most effective, and which lead to higher quality time spent outside.
We are right if: users expressed that having multiple reminders throughout the day was effective at getting them outside.
