Team 1B Project Reflection

This project taught me a lot that allowed me to integrate all of my skills into one product. Mainly, I’ve had the opportunity in this project to integrate all of my technical skills in CS, my needfinding skills from Design, and my business skills from MS&E.

I feel like working on this product was somehow reassuring and challenging. While the initial groundwork was laid from me and my teammates, we found areas of innovation and improvement that were definitely needed. I felt in place of the product manager’s true role, as the very idea of the day to day in a product manager’s role often lies in continuous improvement rather than a groundbreaking initial idea. We went through various iterations of our product design and pitch ranging from a marketplace to a coaching app. I feel like you learn a lot more though “failure” (not that our first pitches were failure, but we pivoted) and your downfalls than what your strong spots are.

Additionally, it was really nice to have a team of diverse people from different areas of expertise. For some projects, you have to spearhead everything on your own and that can be challenging with workload balance and not making everything you do a “jack of all trades, master of none”. Having the ability to talk things over from multiple perspectives, and each split the work according to our areas of expertise, I’m very happy to be apart of this team and launch DrawMaster Pro.
