Team Anteater: WeDo Usability Script

Introduction:

Hello! We are team Anteater and our website is called WeDo. A little bit about us: Our mission is to transform productivity into a shared experience by making task completion engaging, social, and fun. Through friendly competition, accountability, and collaboration, we empower users to achieve their goals together—one completed task at a time. Our vision is a world where productivity is no longer a solo struggle but a communal journey—where every goal feels more achievable, and every task becomes an opportunity to connect, support, and grow with friends.

Today, I’ll be asking you to complete a few tasks using our website. I’ll start by giving you a scenario and then ask you some questions about that experience. Our goal is to see how our website works for you and identify any areas for improvement. Please think out loud as you complete each task, sharing your thoughts, expectations, and any confusion you may have. Don’t hesitate to ask me questions, but note that we want to see how you would navigate our website and that any inquiries or confusions you have are entirely encouraged!

Note that we will be timing you during each task, but don’t let this speed you up as it is just for us to see how long it would take for you to complete a task. Also one my team members will be taking notes don’t mind them, we are not testing you but rather our website. We appreciate your time and willingness to participate.

Before we begin, do we have your permission to record this session for analysis purposes? Your feedback will remain anonymous. We will not share this recording with anyone but our team.

Background Questions:

Before we begin, I’d like to ask you a few questions

  • Can you tell me a little about yourself? (e.g., occupation, student, etc.)
  • How often do you use productivity or to-do list apps?
  • Which productivity apps have you used before, if any? (e.g., Todoist, Notion, Google Tasks, Habitica) If you have, walk us through a typical example of how you would use this tool and for what purpose?

Initial Thoughts:

Ok, so what do you first notice about this website? What do you think you’re able to do? Don’t click anything, but you can scroll. Ok thank you.

Task 1: Create a Task:

Ok now, I will start with the test.

Your first scenario is…

Follow-up Questions:

  • How easy or difficult was it to create a task?
  • Was anything confusing or unexpected?
  • What did you expect to happen after creating the task?

Task 2: Update a Task:

Ok moving forward, your next scenario is…

Scenario:
“You just finished your task, HW1. Mark as completed. Additionally, you just realized the deadline for ‘Finish Report’ needs to be moved to Thursday instead of Friday. Update the task accordingly.”

Follow-up Questions:

  • How easy was it to edit the task?
  • What did you expect to see when you edited the task?
  • Was anything confusing or unexpected?

Task 3: Add a Friend:

Moving along, your next scenario is…

Scenario:
“You want to add your friend Olivia Chen to the app so you can stay accountable together. Find a way to add Olivia as a friend.”

Follow-up Questions:

  • Was it easy to locate the friend-adding feature?
  • How clear were the instructions or feedback from the app?
  • What would make this process easier?

Task 4: Make a Group:

Ok thank you, your next scenario is…

“You and Olivia decide to form a study group with two other friends. Create a group called ‘Study Squad’ and add Olivia to it.”

Follow-up Questions:

  • How intuitive was the process of creating a group?
  • Did you encounter any difficulties?
  • Was the interface clear about what would happen next?

Task 5: Nudge a Friend:

This is the last one and the scenario is…

Scenario:
“Olivia has a task they haven’t completed yet. Use the app to send them a friendly nudge to remind them.”

Follow-up Questions:

  • Was it clear where to find the nudge feature?
  • What feedback did you expect after nudging a friend?
  • How did you feel about the nudge feature overall?

Task 6: Compare with a Friend:

This is the last one and the scenario is…

Scenario:
“You and a classmate, Maria Garcia, are in a friendly battle to see who can finish all their tasks first. Find your friend and compare their progress to your own.”

Follow-up Questions:

  • Was it clear where to find the comparison feature?
  • Was the comparison itself clear and easy to understand?
  • What metric or display did you find most valuable in the comparison area?

Wrapping Up:

One last question: On a scale of 1-10 how intuitive was our website and why? How would you describe how this site would be used to a friend? Do you think this could add value to your life (why/why not)? That is all for today. Thank you so much for participating. Before we wrap, do you have any questions for me? Thank you again, we truly appreciate you testing our website.
