About Our Project
Anchor is a behavior-change app designed to help young adults build a more consistent microlearning habit by connecting learning to routines they already do every day. Instead of treating learning as something that requires extra time, the project focuses on reducing activation energy, since our research found that the hardest part was not finding content but actually getting started. The app helps users create a personalized “anchor statement” that pairs microlearning with an existing habit, like making coffee or getting ready for bed, and supports that routine with flexible notifications, curated content suggestions, lightweight session logging, and progress tracking. Through interviews, diary studies, intervention testing, and iterative prototyping, our team found that anchoring helped users remember to learn more often, even if follow-through still depended on their energy and mood, making Anchor a low-pressure tool that works with people’s real routines instead of against them.
