Usability Report

  • Onboarding: Hard to distinguish the art in the background of the first onboarding screen.

How we would fix: We’ll make it clear what the background art in the first screen is by making it our welcome. Then, the first onboarding screen will have no more confusing repeated coffee cup art

Severity: 1 (trivial)

  • Onboarding: Expect to see a logo or app name instead of welcome

How we would fix: We’ll add a large logo and app name in addition to a welcome message.

Severity: 2 (moderate)

  • Respond to invite: Friend invites are less noticeable than nearby events underneath

How we would fix: There’s a mismatch of font sizes between the friend invites and the events, so the events pop-out more but we can unify the font sizes to make sure that friend hangout request tiles pop-out more

Severity: 1 (trivial)

  • Respond to invite: Unclear whether the invite time works with my calendar, their calendar, or both. “I can’t tell looking at the invite whether I’m free at the same time.”

How we would fix: Upon tapping the invitation, the user can be brought to a preview of her calendar, overlaying the invite with her availability. That way, they can tell whether they’re free during the invite time.

Severity: 3 (severe)

  • Invite someone: Users want to cross compare my friends’ calendar with my own.

How we would fix: To address this issue, we would set the default calendar view to be just the user, and their friends’ availability would overlay their own. This way, it’s clear whose availability is whose, as well as when both people would be free.

Severity: 3 (severe)

  • Invite someone: Users want the option to add an event title. Eg. “pending hangout” is less clear than “pending coffee with Safiyah”

How we would fix: We would add a title for the request hang out section so those titles can be displayed on the calendar too

Severity: 1 (trivial)

  • Invite someone: Add hangouts with multiple people at a time.

How we would fix: We could allow users to send invitations to a group of friends. Those who responded will hang out together.

Severity: 1 (trivial)

  • Invite someone: On the screen where people can schedule hangouts with friends, add a back button to exit this flow.

How we would fix: For the back button to exit the confetti or requesting hang out with friends, we can add the back button to give the freedom and optionality for them to exit the flow.

Severity: 3 (severe)

  • Confetti: The “you’re the goat” pop-up is funny but also doesn’t seem to fit with the degree of formality of the rest of the app.

How we would fix: For the goat emoji, we want should make the app less formal and more casual so we would keep the emoji

Severity: 0 (trivial)
