User Personas and Journey Mapping

User Personas & Journey Mapping:

Decreasing Desires Daisy,

A college student at Stanford who uses TikTok regularly but has negative sentiments towards the app, and who wants to decrease the time she spends using it. We interviewed her to get an idea of her day-to-day routine, and used our baseline study to track her TikTok usage throughout the day. Using this data, we graphed her user journey and how she might be feeling during each activity she mentioned throughout her day.

Looking at her journey map, her TikTok usage is noticeably low until the end of the day. She also does not experience much stress throughout the day and stays in a generally happy and relaxed mood.

Everything in Moderation Emma,

is also a college student at stanford, who sees nothing wrong in her usage of the app throughout the day. In her interviews she explains how her interactions with the app generally are when she feels stressed or bored and is trying to relax throughout her day.

It seems that Emma uses TikTok both as a stress reliever and a social interactor to connect with her friends. Watching funny videos together and sending them to her friends helps her relax a bit and distract herself from more stressful matters, such as classes and work. It is interesting to note that Emma’s TikTok usage falls in line with her stress level throughout the day.
