Granola describes itself as the AI notepad, just a digital transcriber that summarizes your meetings. It is marketed as being towards the “doers”: those who can take action rather than be stuck transcribing. Otter tries to differentiate itself by making it seem like an AI notepad can help you before, after, and during your meeting. It seems a tad bit more agentic than granola, as you can talk to it to pull out different chats, have it talk in voice with a summary of your post meeting summary or brief you up on an upcoming meeting. Fireflies tries to go a step further than that, by offering the user the ability to search and analyze their conversations/transcriptions. It markets itself to CIOs. They all try to sell the functional elements of the pyramid, by providing a product that fulfills the need for notetaking and a transcription, as well as the emotional element, by portraying that they will make the user’s job easier, less stressful. Otter and Granola both also try to appeal to the life changing element by conveying that this is a software for the doers. I’m more likely to use whichever one has the best free product, just because I don’t really need a fancy software that transcribes something for me on the daily.
