Granola, Otter, and Fireflies all record your meeting and give you notes. But their homepages sell very different things.
Granola calls itself “the AI notepad for back-to-back meetings.” It’s for busy people, and its customers are high-growth startups like Linear and Cursor. It differentiates itself with: no bot joins your call, and your notes are private by default. Elements of value: reduces effort, avoids hassles, reduces anxiety, and protects privacy.
Otter says it’s “meeting AI that turns talk into action.” It speaks to sales, education, media, and recruiting teams. It’s advertised to do more than notes: pre-call briefs, live coaching, and automatic follow-ups into your CRM. Elements of value: saves time, informs, integrates, organizes.
Fireflies says it’s “the #1 AI assistant for your meetings.” It speaks to teams and IT buyers, with 1M+ companies and Fortune 500 CIOs. It’s advertised to have 95% accuracy, 100+ languages, 200+ AI skills, and SOC 2/HIPAA compliance. Elements of value: quality, reduces risk, variety, integrates.
I’d probably buy Granola, partly because it was used by many of my friends and their social media marketing was effective. Otter and Fireflies seem to offer more feature, but the simplicity and privacy of Granola speak to me more. For my own value prop, I wanted to reference how Granola picks one hassle and removes it effectively, instead of offering a bundle of functions I may not need.
