I agree and disagree with the professionals’ thoughts about how Elizabeth should go about the situation. I agree in the sense that Elizabeth would have a bright future if she steps out of the company she’s currently in and grows her career through the other opportunities that were offered to her. I also agree with the advice that she should look for a company where her manager is more understanding towards her and willing to treat her fairly.
I disagreed with the professionals though when they were too quick to not consider how much work and dedication Elizabeth has put into the company. It seems that her hard work has earned her great benefits along with the potential to step into bigger roles so it would be a shame to leave this so swiftly. Because she only dated Brad for two months, I think she could try to give it a bit more time and see if she can get over him in order to honor her hard work and standing in the company.
Overall though, I think that Elizabeth seems to be talented at her job and successful so I believe her options look good, and whatever she chooses to do will probably still lead her towards success. If her work environment now is too toxic for her, then she should choose to leave, but if she believes she can push through it, then she should stay. If I were the manager in this scenario, I would take more care in how I handle my employees and their group dynamics. It seems that the manager’s reaction to the situation had the ability to relieve tensions between Brad and Elizabeth but in this case, their reaction worsened the stress on Elizabeth because the manager was very dismissive of how she felt. Had her manager been more empathetic towards her, then I would’ve pushed more towards the decision to stay in the company.
