Yes. I would accept a job at Facebook. Ultimately, I made this decision because I would prioritize my own career and financial situation over the ethical problems associated with Facebook. Now, if there was an equally compelling job opportunity at a different company that prioritized social good, then that would be a different story.
One point that stuck out to me in the article “Working for Ethically Complicated Organizations” was the possibility that accepting such a job would boost my resume and improve my chances of getting a better job down the line. This is important to note, because if I am highly concerned about ethics and want to enact ethical changes in a company, I will have much more influence with a higher ranking position. Accepting an ethically questionable job in the moment may ultimately lead to positive, ethical changes in the future as I advance in my career.
