Joyride
Long-term e-bikes for long-term joy
Executive Summary:
Transportation in urban environments is not adequately solved by cars, public transit or bicycles. Joyride offers long-term e-bike rental solutions to most directly solve this problem. We must next create a technical platform to handle business flow to test our service with organizational campuses.
Problem Statement:
Traditional methods of transportation do not adequately fulfill users’ needs. On the one hand, cars represent a heavy fiscal burden (initial purchase and maintenance), must have adequate parking, and carry negative climate impacts. On the other hand, traditional pedal bikes require consistent user efforts and have a smaller range of transportation. E-bikes have the potential to solve many of these problems. While shared e-bike programs exist in many cities, these programs do not offer users the convenience that ownership provides, however, owning an e-bike also comes with its own slew of maintenance and financial burdens.
Solution:
As cities become more sustainable, micro mobility transportation options are becoming more popular and accepted among consumers. Joyride offers a range of long-term e-bike rentals that are delivered right to your door and we handle of all associated maintenance. The monthly-price or annual-price model allows users to easily budget their transportation costs and reduce maintenance stresses. Our selection of e-bikes offers bicycles that can meet any urban/suburban use case. The range of our e-bikes fills the gap between cars and conventional bikes, and allows users to further their range by carrying the bike onto public transportation.
Next Steps:
We are testing our hypothesis by engaging with academic and professional campus organizations (think Stanford campus and Meta campus) through interviews and research. Our next step is to flesh out our technical stack to handle requests and track our inventory. Once this is accomplished, the next phase is to work on a partnership with a professional campus. For example, Meta offers bike rentals to interns for the duration of their internship at no cost. They do not include an e-bike reserve. We will be first to offer Meta employees an e-bike option by partnering directly with the Meta Bike Shop.
