For this behavior I decided to measure the times I would lay in bed during the day (instead of doing homework or something more productive). Since coming back from break, I noticed that i’ve been feeling very tired during the day but energetic at night. I would nap during the day and sometimes just lay there on my phone. I first did the connected circle model:

Some interesting things I noticed were how intertwined everything was. For example having a busy day could mean several things. It could mean a headache, which meant laying in bed during the day. But on the other hand, it it would also cause me to sleep well at night since I was more tired. I did notice a cycle where I would sleep during the day, therefore be energetic at night and not want to sleep. With this information I drew a causal loop diagram:
Overall measuring this behavior revealed several things I could improve on to make me sleep less during the night. For example, sleeping well at night was one of the best ways to prevent this. And one of the best ways to cause this was to be busy during the day. So for the future I will try to plan out my days more and try to have more things to do so that I am more tired at night and can fix my behavior.
In terms of the measuring itself, I could’ve tried to measure during different days given that I mostly measured during weekends when my schedule is very different. During weekdays I expect that with classes I will be more busy and thus might sleep less during the day.
