For this iteration, I thought it’d be great to breakdown my behavior patterns for not eating high sugar / fat-content foods. Because I am currently preparing for a number of important Taekwondo competitions, I’ve been cutting weight and trying to maintain a high protein load. Through these two diagrams above, I modeled all of the factors that went into my decisions of consuming “bad” food and tried to understand what went into doing so.
A big trend that I noticed is that there’s definitely a number of behaviors that feed into each other. If you look at the connection circle, you can see that behaviors like “going out with friends” will feed into “staying up late”, which will feed into “feeling hungry” and inevitably leads to eating “bad” food. So, I think just keeping this type of correlation in mind will help me be more intentional in how I consume food. I also noticed how helpful it is to just prevent exposure to such “bad” food by just making it more inaccessible or unlikely for me to see it often.
I think going forward, I’m definitely going to be more conscious of how staying up late affects my consumption of “bad” food and try to push towards more healthy food consumption when with my friends. In addition, with regards to the actual process of recording my behavior, I think it went pretty smoothly but I would definitely love something that helps me log things more smoothly or at least reminds me to do so, because my current process is super clunky and it’s super hard to remember logging the information.
