The behavior of procrastination has been a persistent issue for me, and in order to better understand it, I decided to measure it over the course of the past 3 days. I wanted to understand what specific actions or environments were causing me to procrastinate more. Through my observations and analysis of my behavior, I discovered that a significant portion of my procrastination was rooted in the habit of “avoiding difficult tasks.” I also identified patterns and cycles in my behavior that perpetuated this issue.
An example of one of these cycles is when I am feeling overwhelmed by the amount of work that I have to do, I tend to procrastinate as a way to avoid dealing with the difficult task at hand. However, this only leads to added pressure and stress as the deadline approaches, which then further exacerbates my feelings of overwhelm. This cycle continues to repeat itself, making it difficult for me to make progress on the task and ultimately leading to more procrastination.
