P2 WORK: Assumption Testing – HarvestMingle

Team 1A –  HarvestMingle

Assumption Tested: People will choose meal kits over pre-made meals

Website used for testing: Goodeggs

Test Notes:

Participant 1

Age: 24

Occupation: Graduate Student

Scenario: Choose meals for Thursday, Friday, Saturday.

Thursday: Curated cheese board

She likes cheese and doesn’t really care to go for full meals

Friday: pumpkin filled flatbreads

I like bread and pumpkins.

Saturday: Pho meal kit

It’s good. If it’s heated up, I could manage. I don’t want to deal with fresh fruits and veggies.

Cooking can be stressful. But if it’s a meal kit < 1 hr. I would save the meal kit for a Saturday. Otherwise I wouldn’t care if I heat it up as long as it tastes good.

Participant 2

Age: 34

Occupation: Graduate Student

Scenario: Choose meals for Thursday, Friday, Saturday.

Clicked ready made meal categories.

Thursday: Soy Ginger Salmon Bowl

Already ate junk food during the week. I want something healthier. He knows he will be busy.

Friday: Teriyaki Chicken Bowls

Lunch. Went to under 30 minute meals. Meal kit. That’s what he eats. Rice with meal.

Saturday: Hawaiian-Style Chopped Steak

I have the most time. It takes longer than the other one. It was different enough from the other one too.

Why did he switch from ready-made meals on Thursday to meal kit meals for Friday: Friday and Saturday he knew he would be able to make it for himself.

Mostly cooks for himself. 2 meals a day. Normally eat lunch somewhere else because he’s at school. Eating is the reward.

When he worked he cooked all three times a day. Except when he had to be in the office. He would just find lunch around.

Participant 3

Age: 20

Occupation: SWE Engineer/ Graduate Student

Scenario: Choose meals for Thursday, Friday, Saturday.

Started with the curated meal kits

Thursday: Thai Coconut Chicken Soup

Comes in three servings so I would eat it every day.

If it came in one serving I’d probably get two kits and one ready meal

Friday: soy ginger salmon bowl

Saturday: turkey chili brown

A lot of the options I can’t eat (dietary restrictions).

I like to cook more for dinners. It’s relaxing for me. The ready made things look like things I wouldn’t want to eat everyday.

Participant 4

Age: 21

Occupation: Graduate Student

Scenario: Choose meals for Thursday, Friday, Saturday.

Chose meal kits first > entrees

Thursday: chicken pot pie with leeks and mushrooms

Looks yummy and homey

Friday: sheet-pan chicken Parmesan

Looks really good too

Saturday: teriyaki steak with bok choy

Heart meal, steak sounds great

Prefer mix of cuisines.

I don’t want anything Mexican because I can make that on my own

I do other cuisines to not get bored. To not get bored.

Meal kits- I like to be able to put something together. Be part of the process. If I don’t want to buy this again at least I got a new recipe out of it.
